First-ever GPS tour app for U.S. railroads, RailJoy turns your train rides along the Northeast Corridor, between NY and DC, into GPS-guided multimedia experiences. Enjoy automatically-triggered audio commentary, real-time map positioning, photographs and text for 150 waypoints throughout the 220-mile route as your train moves along. An offline manual mode offers a similar experience even when you are not on a train.

IMPORTANT
While on a train, make sure to turn off Wi-Fi on your device! Please use only the cellular data service to ensure smooth functioning of the app.

COMPATIBILITY
iPhone models 4, 5, 6 or an iPad with a Cellular data connection is necessary for proper functioning of RailJoy with precise GPS reception in the online automatic mode (automatic triggering of commentary and media). An offline manual mode offers a similar experience on all other iOS devices.

TOUR
Connect with the world outside your train window almost every mile as audio and visual highlights of your surroundings including geographic, sociopolitical and historic facts magically appear. Dont ever go over a river, through a park, a town or a station without knowing the name and the relevant facts. Flow through centuries of history in the comfort of your seat. Understand what you see in daytime trips and add some vision into your night trips.

MULTIMEDIA
A streamlined screen features photographs from each location as well as a scrolling map pinpointing your location every second, complete with a speed indicator.

VERSATILITY
Turning the device to a landscape mode you can follow the experience via a full screen map or a full screen photograph view. Direction buttons enable you to jump to locations ahead or behind, while the reload button returns you to your current location where the program is automatically triggered by GPS signals. By touching the GPS/MPH button, you can choose different map modes including a satellite view or switch to a text view of the narration. Shaking the device takes you quickly to the stations in NY and DC.

GPS+
With certain train, device, cellular carrier combinations, you may need to hold the device against the train window. For smooth GPS and map reception, please do not connect to the onboard Wi-Fi. RailJoy requires a cellular internet connection for map updates. Non-US iPhones and iPads might incur roaming charges as the maps automatically update via the Internet. A power adapter might be necessary on longer trips.

ENJOY
You can use RailJoy NY-DC for the entire route from NY to DC in either direction, or any part of the route in either direction, on national and commuter trains.
